The Board (consisting of two Justices of the Peace, together with the local Police Magistrate as Chairman) appears to have been responsible for checking the validity of claims for pensions. Meetings were held frequently (most commonly on two or three successive days each fortnight). The Minutes provide a summary of each application dealt with, together with the decision reached.


The last section of the volume contains tables for each month from July 1901 to April 1902, showing dates and duration of sittings, number of applications dealt with, number of applications adjourned and withdrawn, number of applications for warrants, and names of members of the Board present at each meeting.
