Early volumes in this series are divided into two sections: charges and summonses. Under charges the following details are recorded: date of trial, number of case, name of prisoner, offence, if previously convicted and particulars (if known), result of trial, signature of magistrates, and whether imprisoned or fine paid. Under summonses the following details are recorded: date of trial, number of case, complainant, defendant, offence or cause of action, Act under which tried, fees paid, how disposed of, signature of magistrates, and whether imprisoned or fined.
In later volumes charges and summonses are recorded in one chronological and numerical sequence. The following details are recorded: date of hearing, number of case and whether charge or summons, prosecutor or complainant, defendant, offence or cause of action, Act and Section, fees chargeable or paid previous to hearing, dates fees paid, how disposed of, signature of magistrates, whether imprisoned, time allowed, or paid, etc., and date of payment and total amount.
