A writ of capias is a written order commanding on officer to take a specified person into custody. This volume shows the number of capias issued (in some cases only), names of litigants, the amount for which the writ has been taken out, the nature of the action, and the date of issue of the writ.

The running number system of registration is discontinued after 8 April 1810.

There is an alphabetical index to the registered entries in the back of the volume.

The dates for this series are based upon the contents dates of the State archives held in custody.
