This volume contains separate schedules of grants in aid toward: the repair and building of denominational school premises, 7 May 1856-26 April 1874; and the purchase of furniture in denominational schools, 9 November 1858-12 October 1870.

The schedules of aid granted are subdivided into separate sections for Anglican (in the Sydney, Newcastle and Goulburn dioceses), Presbyterian, Wesleyan, and Roman Catholic schools. Within each section the arrangement is alphabetical by location of school. They contain information on the locality of each school obtaining a grant, the purpose of the grant, the date granted, the number of the cash book in which the grant was entered, the amount of the grant, and the minimum cost of erection, alteration, repair or furnishing, towards which the grant was part payment.

The schedules appear to have been compiled retrospectively by the Council of Education as some entries are not in chronological order.
