This series contains annual reports from the Department of Local Government, which later became the Office of Local Government.
Annual reports provide an overview of the work of an agency work during the reporting year. Most reporting years are for the financial year ending 30 June, though earlier twentieth century reports may have been for the calendar year ending 31 December.
Between 1926 and 1963 the reports contained the Department of the Valuer-General and the Electrical Contractors and Electricians Licensing Board between 1931 and 1934.
A listing of the shires and municipalities between 1935 and 1937 is also included in the series.
