Full description
This series contains the minutes of the Richmond River Water Hyacinth Board.
The Board came into force in 1915 and through the enacting of the Local Government Act, 1919, the Board became a part of the Richmond River County Council. (1) The Act outlined that any acts that the Board had done between 1915 and 1919 shall be deemed to have been done by River Richmond County Council, as if the Act had already been in force when they were done. (2)
These minute books were created under s.107 and 108 of the Municipalities Act of 1867 (Act No.12a, 1867) which was assented to on 23 December 1867, and subsequent legislation.
The General meetings were called for Ordinary business and were recurrent meetings prescribed by legislation to be held at regular intervals. (3)
Special meetings could be called for Extraordinary business by the mayor or by two councillors and dealt with a specific issue. Reports were generally also tabled at these meetings as well as at the general meeting relating to the subject. (4)
