Full description

This series comprises summary ledgers created by the Joint Coal Board on the productive capacity and output at each mine in New South Wales and Australia. The information recorded includes coal output, number of employees and man-shifts worked and lost. The summaries record the productive output of each mine in terms of the coal produced and the productive labour harnessed at each mine site as a percentage (shifts worked vs shifts possible) each year. The statistics were recorded fortnightly per colliery and are arranged into separate districts. Most of the statistics refer to mines in NSW, but some ledgers include statistics on mines in other states. The statistics were collected for each calendar year until 1973-1974 when the statistics were collected each financial year. The series is arranged chronologically.
