This series contains the Geological Survey NSW photographic collection card index. These cards may record; Photograph number, Date, Locality, Description (of photo), Format, Photographer, Mine, Company, GR number, scale & map reference. Over a period of time the card’s descriptive arrangement varies whilst maintaining the above key elements. Each card may have a physical photographic image adhered to the card. This photo may be in monochrome or colour. The card index accounts for material from the regional locations as well as the agency’s head office in Sydney. The agency has acquired photos of subjects interstate as well so there are also collections relating to other Australian states. There appear to be two card format sizes, one is 33.5cm x 21cm and the other from circa 1990 is 35cm x27cm.
