When the decision was made to close the 'State Rail Archives' the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered. This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection where it was identified as series R478. These records comprise of coroner's court transcripts of the inquiry into the Coledale accident of 30 April 1988, plus notes and reports from the Corporate Secretary of the State Rail Authority regarding various related legal issues. These include the question of financial support for State Rail Authority employees involved in the investigation and causes of, and responsibility for, the incident. The records are bound in manilla folders largely in date order.
