This series contains administrative files created by the Environment Protection Authority, Metropolitan Branch and succeeding agencies. Included are licence applications and associated investigations, as required under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (Act No.156, 1997), relating to businesses in the Metropolitan area. The files relate to businesses that were significant polluters and where a licence was reviewed on a regular basis, and also concern issues of major public interest or controversy.

The files are organised in alpha-numeric order with some file numbers containing a prefix:
