Full description

This series contains volumes containing registered numbers of case files relating to matrimonial causes. The entries give file number, names of petitioner and respondent, name of co-respondent (if applicable), date petition filed, appearance date, date of the answer, date of the draft issues, date of the trial, date of decree and the Petitioner's and Respondent's solicitors.

The volumes in this series were originally in two numerical sequences from 1873 to 23 Feb 1961 (up to Volume 71) and then Volumes 1 to 92 (1 February 1961 to 23 June 1976). The latter volumes 1 to 92 were for divorce proceedings under the Commonwealth Matrimonial Causes Act 1959.

From Volume 1 to Volume 67 in the latter sequence information also includes the name of the judge before whom tried and ground of decree under the Matrimonial Causes Act 1959.
