Full description

This series contains Miscellaneous Registers which contain a wide variety of transactions, the most important being Powers of Attorney, Appointment of Receivers and Deeds Evidencing Changes of Name.

Entries were indexed in a separate Miscellaneous Index from 1 July 1920 to 10 March 1950, as required by the original regulation. This requirement was omitted by a regulation published in Government Gazette No 37 of 3 March 1950. From this date until 30 June 1976, the entries were indexed in both the Miscellaneous Register and The Vendors Index.

Deeds evidencing Change of Name registered in the Miscellaneous Register between 22 July 1942 to 30 June 1967 were also indexed in the Change of Name Index, after this date all changes of name were registered in the General Register of Deeds.

The Miscellaneous Register was constituted by regulation pursuant to the Conveyancing Act 1919, published in Government Gazette No 126 of 2 July 1920.
