Each file begins with the formal response and opinion from the expert and the official template letter sent from the Chelmsford Royal Commission staff to the expert. This series contains the files of 24 deep sleep therapy patients who died either at Chelmsford Private Hospital or within days of being discharged from the hospital. The series holds files that were created by Commission staff that were sent to a range of experts for their opinion on the cause of death. The assistance sought was that whether the cause or causes of death were correct or not on the death certificate. If the death was not correct what was their opinion that was the probable cause of death.
