Full description

This volume was used to record Pistol Licenses issued by the Carcoar Police Station under the Pistol License Act, 1927 (Act No.10, 1927).

The Act states under section 5 that ''Applications for licenses... or the renewal of such licenses, shall be made to the officer of police in charge of the police station nearest to the place where the applicant usually resides.'' (1) Furthermore, section 9 states that ''A record of all licenses issued under this Act at any police station shall be kept there and shall be open for inspection at all reasonable times upon payment of the fee (if any) prescribed.'' (2)

The volume records the following: the name and address (suburb) of the licensee; the description, maker and number of the pistol; the date and number of the license issued; any subsequent renewals of the license issued. There are also notes regarding the relocation of licensees or a note stating that the license was not renewed.

This volume contains an index at the front, recording the licensees alphabetically by surname or by company. Any inspections to the volume were annotated with a signature and date.
