The records in this series were created to record the number of government schools, school districts, and school inspectors in New South Wales. Each report lists the school inspectors and their district. The schools are then divided into types and listed alphabetically with their district and class.
These reports were originally a variety of printed booklets, but have since been bound by the New South Wales Department of Education Library and given a consistent title. Each report covers a calendar year. Some have been bound together by the library. The later reports have handwritten annotations of changes or additions to schools.
