This series is a card index to applications received for the establishment of new government schools.
The applications could be submitted by members of the community, local councils, shires, or school inspectors. New schools, consolidations and expansions could be requested and the decisions are recorded on the index cards. Previously, these cards were used to find the corresponding registered papers which were numbered and filed chronologically. The papers regarding establishment of schools are now contained within NRS 3829 School files, where the records are arranged alphabetically by school.
The cards are arranged alphabetically by the school name. The cards have a printed template and are completed by hand. For each application, the card states the school type, its location, the number of the corresponding registered paper application, the actions taken and the correspondent.
