Full description

This volume from Morisset Hospital for the Insane, later known as Morisset Mental Hospital and Morisset Hospital, is an index of admissions to Morisset Hospital’s Ward 21, a high security facility for the treatment of the criminally insane, which operated between the mid-1930s and late 1990. Although arranged in alphabetical divisions, and providing less information, it is to some extent a successor to NRS 21459, Register of patients and admission book - PUD (patients under detention).

For each patient, the following information is provided: name; register number (prefixed by current classification, usually PUD); religion; date admitted, where admitted from; date discharged; and where discharged to. Some entries are underlined, including those for patients who were discharged by means of escape.

Although the volume contains admissions from as early as June 1958, it is believed it was initiated in the late 1960s and that the details of a number of current patients were copied in.

The entries within each alphabetical division are generally in order by date of admission, though this is not strictly the case with some early entries.
