These are registers of patient discharges from the John Beasley Ward at Balmain Hospital. The ward opened in November 1943. (1)

For most patients, an adhesive printed label has been applied to the first column of the record which usually provides: medical record number; name; address; date of birth; sex; doctor; ward (John Beasley); date admitted, and whether hospital (public), private or unknown. For some patients, this information has been entered by hand. Additional columns provide: date of discharge, diagnosis and date of operation, and the patient's phone number.
