Full description

This volume is a register of volunteer fire staff attached to metropolitan brigades. It lists officers appointed between approximately 1927 and 1967 and annotations suggest it was maintained between the years 1960 and 1967.

The registers are arranged alphabetically by name of brigade. For each brigade, the district and “authorised strength” are recorded.

For each officer listed, the register records: name, address, occupation, date of appointment, married or single, date of birth, date appointed to the Reserve Corps, other service, and dates awards received. There are also Left Brigade and Remarks columns which, combined, normally provide a reason for and date of leaving the brigade as well as other information, such as positions held (e.g. Captain, Engine keeper).
