Occasionally, annotations record details of employment at the hospital.From  around May 1885 the pasted-in sheets become forms printed with the following headings: Date, Name, Address, Age, Height, Weight, Marital Status, Religion and Nativity.There is space for additional information (employment history, comments as to suitability, character etc) beneath. This volume is labelled References, Hospital for the Insane Gladesville 1883-1890.

It contains pasted-in sheets of paper which provide personal details of persons seeking employment at the Hospital. Information recorded includes physical attributes, whether the applicant can read or write, Religion, address, previous employment history/trade/military service details, how long in Colony, ship of arrival, plus comments as to suitability, character etc. A small number of sheets have at some time been removed.
