The negatives held in this series document the functions of a number of successive electricity providers: Newcastle Electricity Supply Council Administration (NESCA), Municipal Council of Sydney, Sydney County Council, Sydney Electricity and Energy Australia. The images were ultimately in the custody of Ausgrid until privatisation in 2016.
The series is composed of both glass-plate and acetate film negatives. The original collection was extensive, with multiple images of assets. The collection was culled in 2016 and selected images listed in order to provide a comprehensive representation of the activities of the various electricity suppliers.
The images were taken by the organisations' photographic departments, with photographers employed until the 1990s. All selected images have been digitised. This series is related to NRS 20820 Images - negatives [Newcastle Electricity Supply Council Administration]. This is a hybrid series.
