These volumes contain details of births at Manly Hospital starting with the first babies born in the new maternity unit on 26 September 1952.

The registers include the following information:
Mother's name, address, age and doctor; whether public or private; religion; marital status; date of admission; parity; date of last menstrual period; position and presentation; date and time labour began; date and time membranes ruptured; date and time of the end of each of the three stages of labour; hours in labour; nature of labour; the condition of the perineum; weight, length and sex of baby; how the placenta and membranes were delivered; condition of amniotic fluid; anaesthetics used and name of anaesthetist; names of assistants and manipulator; and the signature of the sister in charge.
