This inquiry, established under Section 119 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (Act No.203, 1979), was held between 21 September and 14 December 1993 before Commissioner Kevin Cleland who was appointed on 14 July 1993. (1) The Commissioner's report was published in February the following year. (2)

The records include submissions from Danpork Australia Pty Ltd, Scone Council, Department of Planning, Department of Agriculture, Department of Conservation and Land Management, Department of Public Works, Department of Water Resources, Environment Protection Agency, Freight Rail (North), Hunter Area Health Service, Hunter Catchment Management Trust, Meat Industry Authority, Muswellbrook Shire Council, Office of Economic Development, Pacific Power, Roads and Traffic Authority, Shortland Electricity, and Scone-Parkville Environment Watch Inc. There are also submissions from various other organisations and individuals, and background documents and the report are also included.

In addition to paper documents, the records include two maps and a video tape.
