This self indexing volume relates to the registration of Friendly, Building and Benefit Societies. The index at front of volume lists in alphabetical categories the name of society and folio number where details can be located - generally there is one entry per folio except where there is a parent / child relationship between organisation and branches, when there are 2 lodges to each folio. It records the name of society, name of lodge, record (registration) number assigned to the organisation, document number, date registered and filed, nature of document (subject matter), remarks, annotations – correspondence matter (rules, trustees, annual reports, ‘dissolutions’ etc. and remarks (business address / place of meeting). Much of the information in the volume has been transcribed from the Index to Register. The series was also used to register inwards mail from the various societies.
