Full description

This series comprises Annual Reports of the Sydney County Council (SCC). From 1935 to 1978 each bore the title 'Annual Report of the General Manager of the Sydney County Council'. Thereafter, they were entitled 'Annual Report of the Sydney County Council'.

The report for 1935, the first issued by Sydney County Council, was essentially the report of the Electricity Department of the Municipal Council of Sydney, which was reconstituted as the Sydney County Council, operating as such from January 1936.

For the year ended 31 December 1952, there is an additional volume entitled 'Statistics - Financial and Engineering'.

Until 1986, the Council's reporting period was January to December. Effective from 1 July 1987, its financial year end was changed to 30 June. Thus this series includes an Interim Report, covering the six months transition period issued to meet immediate parliamentary requirements, and a formal six-month report for the period ended 30 June 1987, which was issued together with the Annual Report for the 1987-88 financial year.

This series ends with the report for the 1989-90 financial year. However, the first six months of the Annual Report of Sydney Electricity for 1990-91 (NRS 21085) relates to the operations of Sydney County Council as the former didn't replace the SCC until January 1991.
