This series consists of index cards which group, into sections and subjects, glass plate and acetate negative images recording the infrastructure and operations of electricity suppliers in the Newcastle area.

These cards are related to NRS 20876 Index cards to images – sequential numbering [Newcastle Electricity Supply Council Administration] and group the sequentially-numbered images into sections and subjects.

There are four sections and multiple subjects per section.

Section 1, Buildings and Substations: includes subjects for works buildings, powerhouse and grounds; cottage type substations; NESCA House and City Hall; Wallsend Depot and others.

Section 2, Special: includes subjects for accidents, diagrams, oscillograms and aerial photographs.

Section 3, Electrical Plates and Equipment: includes subjects for NESCA transformers, testing equipment, public lighting and domestic, commercial and farm equipment.

Section 4, General: includes subjects for vehicles, staff, advertising displays, panoramas and tree clearing.

The majority of cards are typed with a small section towards the end of the series being handwritten.

This series is an index to NRS 20820, Images - negatives [Newcastle Electricity Supply Council Administration]. Both the glass plate and acetate negative images use the following numbering system: negative number – box number – photograph number. For example, 12 – 2 – 24, is negative number 12, box number 2, photograph number 24.
