Local Land Boards were established as community based tribunals for the purpose of resolving disputes in relation to land settlement in New South Wales. Over the years, the role of the boards was broadened under jurisdictions mandated by various Acts, including the Western Lands Act, 1901 (Act No. 70, 1901) and the Crown Lands Act, 1989 (Act No. 6, 1989). (1)

These records include file notes, permits, plans, reports and correspondence dealing with the administration of Crown land including, but not limited to, Crown tenures, Aboriginal land claims, native title, acquisitions, sales, land assessment, status, surveys, easements, national parks and planning.
