This record is the Sanitary Inspector's reports to Bexley Municipal Council. Under the provisions of the Public Health Act of 1902 (Act No. 30, 1902) the first nuisance or sanitary inspector for Bexley was appointed on August 2, 1909.
The volume contain reports, which include stock and animal control for slaughterhouses and reports that detail the measures taken to ensure the safety of the milk from dairies. The volume contains reports regarding the development of night-soil and garbage removal services which came under the responsibility of the sanitary inspector. The inspector also had oversight of the new building Ordinance 70, which covered the regulation of buildings and the subdivision of building land. (1)
Each report is noted with the date of the either the Council meeting to which it was reported, or the date the recommendation was adopted. The reports are counter-signed by the Mayor or the Town Clerk. The volume is arranged chronologically.
