Full description
This series contains the minutes of the Mayor for the purpose of reporting to the Bexley Municipal Council. The minutes are written in such a way that they could be read aloud.
Each minute starts with the salutation "Gentlemen" and then proceeds to detail some matter and the action that the Mayor proposes to the Council's meetings. Matters mentioned in these minutes range from drains and ditches to the newly-introduced night-soil removal service, and the suggestion to petition Government to forbid the use of Billy carts on formed footpaths, to obituary notices of prominent citizens. Not all of the matters required a resolution. The minutes are written by at least three of Bexley's mayors.
The date of the Council meeting when Council adopted the recommendation in the Mayoral Minute is noted. The minutes were arranged chronologically and are handwritten with some printed insertions.
