The Registration and Accreditation Committee carry out the following functions: (1) provide advice and make recommendations to the Minister concerning applications for or changes to the classes, parts or duration of the registration, renewal and extension of registration and exemption from registration of non-government schools; (2) provide advice and make recommendations to the Minister regarding systems of non-government schools and the formation of systems; (3) provide advice and make recommendations to the Minister regarding the cancellation or cessation of registration or exemption from registration of non-government schools; (4) arrange random inspections of non-government schools, or inspections if there is reason to believe that the requirements for registration or exemption from registration are not being complied with at the school; (5) develop procedures and issue advice and returns for completion by schools and/or approved school systems authorities when applying for registration or renewal of registration; (6) consider and decide applications for the accreditation or renewal of accreditation of non-government schools.
