NRS-20160 | Photographic Album-Construction of Pyrmont Bridge [Department of Public Works]

Full description

The photographs record the construction of Pyrmont Bridge and associated works and date from 1899 to 1903. On the front is lettered in gold leaf  'Pyrmont Bridge' and 'Percy Allan, M. INST. C.E.M.AM. SOC.C.E.'   Percy Allan was a Public Works engineer noted for timber bridge construction: he was Assistant to the Director-General from 1912-16 and Chief Engineer 1917-26.  The difference in the descriptions of photographs suggests that the album was collated from photographs in more than one collection. 

Some photographs are copies from NRS 4481 glass negatives [Government Printing Office] but not all the photographs of Pyrmont Bridge from NRS 4481 are contained in the album.
