General description of the records in the series:
The Pecuniary Interest and Determination Tribunal determine complaints of pecuniary interest contraventions by local government councillors. They determine individual cases by statement of decision or by hearings and have powers to suspend councillors for acts of misbehaviour. Records will include hearings, exhibits, statements, correspondence and report determined.
Reason the series is or was created:
Pecuniary Interest and Determination Tribunal is constituted under Chapter 14, Part 4, of the Local Government Act 1993 to hold hearings into and decide allegations of contraventions of Part 2 of that Chapter and to perform such other functions as are conferred or imposed on it by the Act. Cases from the Tribunal form part of the Division of Local Government’s records.
