This series consists of signed minutes for the meetings of the Higher Degrees Committee of the Mitchell College of Advanced Education.

The minutes are all typed and arranged in chronological order. The minutes document the decisions and resolutions made by the Committee. The following information is contained in the minutes: the date, place and time of the meeting; those people present at the meeting; apologies from people not able to attend; information and resolutions referred to the committee for approval from other committees of the College; resolutions passed by the Committee itself; any correspondence tabled at the meeting; any general business arising; and the date, place and time of the next meeting.

The Higher Degrees Committee consisted of the Chairman of the Committee, Assistant Registrar, Admissions Officer, Masters Course Co-Ordinators and the Deputy Principal. The purpose of the Higher Degrees Committee was to review the Higher Degree Courses and enrolment processes to get into such courses, also to set, review, assess and change as necessary the grades for Higher Degree courses. They also reviewed and approved Higher Degree Regulations.The Committee also set a Staff Development Program for Supervisors of Masters Students, approved offers into the Masters Degrees, and provided information for clarification of Masters Thesis format and submission procedures.
