Full description

The Daily Report Books were required to be kept under Regulations in accordance with the Public Schools Acts of 1866, issued on 27 February 1867, s. 17, and are the daily record of attendance for each class of the school. Their pre-printed format provides for this record to be kept by day, class and gender.

The purpose of the Daily Report Book was to aggregate the numbers of students attending school each day.  At South Creek / St Marys, separate Daily Report Books were kept for the Infants and for the Primary schools.

It was completed by the teacher in the afternoon and signed by them at the bottom of the page.

The book features columns for the date, class grade, number in class and the daily average. Boys and girls appear on alternating pages.
