These are the annual reports of the Department of Prisons (1874-1970) Department of Corrective Services (1970-2009) Corrective Services NSW (2009).

Annual reports provide an overview of the work of an agency work during the reporting year. Most reporting years are for the financial year ending 30 June, though earlier twentieth century reports may have been for the calendar year ending 31 December.

This series was previously titled the Annual reports of the Comptroller General of Prisons.

The Corrective Services NSW annual report for the year 2008/2009 is included in this series. From 2009/2010 to 2018/2019 the Corrective Services NSW Annual reports were incorporated into the Department of Justice Annual reports and from 2019/2020 they were incorporated into the Department of Communities and Justice Annual reports.
