Full description

This series consists of files created by the Department of Education between 1982 and 1995. The files relate to the administration and development of the Basic Skills Test in New South Wales schools. The Basic Skills Test was introduced in 1989 with the aim of testing the literacy and numeracy of year 6 students across the state against a common scale. In 1990 a Basic Skills Test was also introduced for students in year 3.

Included in the Basic Skills Test files are policy development reports and papers, committee papers, correspondence, financial documents, contracts and tender documents. Also included are subject profile files and files containing documents relating to the development of teaching materials and publications pertaining to the Basic Skills Test teaching program.
