The special photograph books record photographs and details of offenders for identification purposes.
The Photograph books are bound volumes containing photographs of offenders, and used for identification purposes. The first volume dates from c. 1914-1923 and contains a mixture of types of photograph. Some are single photographs, showing only head and shoulders, others contain two photographs, one with and one without a hat or one taken from the front and one from the side, or one showing head and shoulders and one a full length photograph. The second volume dates from c. 1924-1929 and contains two photographs (1 head and shoulders and one full length) within one frame. The following details are printed on the pages: Name; FP classification; Photo Book ref: By whom arrested; Date; Offence and Class of criminal. Both volumes contain alphabetical name indexes in the front.
