Full description

These registers contain a record of all approved Conditional Leases in the Land District of Wentworth, kept by the Wentworth Lands Office.

Once an application for a Conditional Lease had been approved and the notice published in the NSW Government Gazette, the Crown Land Agent would record the Lease information in these registers. Each entry was arranged according to the Conditional Lease (CL) number published in the Gazette. The registers were then used to record all payments of rent.

When each volume was filled, the information relating to all active Conditional Leases were transferred to a new register. Usually, only the names of the original and the current Leasees were transferred, as well as the latest rent payment made.

These registers record information such as the names and addresses of the Leasees, the date of application or transfer of Lease, the County and Parish, the area of the Lease, the deposit amount, the date of Gazette notice, the period paid for, and the rent amount paid.
