These registers contain a summary record of all Conditional Purchases applied for in the Land District of Grafton, kept by the Grafton Crown Land Agent.

An application for a Conditional Purchase would be submitted to the local Crown Land Agent, together with a deposit. Upon receipt of such an application, the Agent would enter the details into these registers. Each new application was numbered in consecutive order, beginning at one at the start of each calendar year.

Once the application for a Conditional Purchase had been approved, these registers were then used to record each rent payment made by the Purchaser and by any subsequent transferees. The first instalment was due three years from the date of application.

These registers record information such as the name and address of purchaser or transferee, date of application or transfer, the area and a description of land applied for, amount of deposit paid, balance of purchase money, dates and amount of instalments, interest paid on purchase money, and date of receipt of declaration.
