Full description

This series is comprised of volumes containing the minutes of meetings held by the Hay Municipal Council. 

The minutes were handwritten into the volumes from 1897 until 1923. Minutes from 1951 onwards have been typed. Each set of minutes was signed by the Chairman (later, the Mayor), usually at the following meeting, when they were read and confirmed.

Committees reporting to the Council at each meeting variously included: the Finance Committee, the Works Committee, the Parks Committee, and the Electricity Committee. Other employees such as the Town Clerk, the Health Inspector, and the Electrical Engineer regularly reported at General Meetings of the Council.
