Full description
From 1872 to 1892, each index has a classified list of gaols and offices in the front of the volume, indicating the folio on which they may be found. Under each gaol or office are noted short precis of subject matter and the registered number of the letter. There is provision in the index for letters of a miscellaneous character and for letters relating to persons, which are arranged in an alphabetical section. From 1 July 1893, the indexes are merely nominal and relate to the folio number only in the register. It is then necessary to refer to the subject column in the register at the correct folio.
1872-74, 1876, 1878-80, 1888-89, Jan-Jun 1892, 1893-94 (5/1979-97), 1927-28 (12/1699.1). 20 vols.
