Shire engineers were appointed under Part IX of the Local Government (Shires) Act, 1905 (Act No. 33. 1905).
This series consists of the Engineer’s bridge book. It contains sketches and elevations of 35 bridges providing details of location, description, construction, dates, conditions and details of repairs and costs of repairs. There is an index at the front of the book. The bridges were numbered and arranged according to the specific road on which they were located.
