Each double page of the volumes in this series is divided into “Cash” and “Contra”.

In the first volume, the information given on the Cash pages includes: date; particulars of receipts – from whom received, on account of; no. of ledger folio; public revenue account; public moneys account; and daily total. The Contra pages provide columns for such information as: date; particulars of disbursements – to whom payed, on what account; no. of ledger folio; public revenue account; public moneys account; and daily total.

The second volume of this series has those columns in addition to a number of extras, such as: how money was received (by cheque, cash, etc.); no. of cheque; items (if any) of cheques drawn; no. of acquittance or Treasury receipt.
