Full description

The Register of dog owners is divided into alphabetical order. For each entry the following information is recorded: the date of registration, the number of the registration ticket (a five digit number) and the name of the owner.

Dog owners were required by the Dog and Goat Act 1898 (Act No.44, 1898) to register their dogs at the nearest Court of Petty Sessions for a fee of two shillings and sixpence per dog and to renew the registration every year. (1)

This volume has the following handwritten inside the cover: “Proclamations applying the provisions of Part II of the Dog and Goat Act, 1898 to the Police Districts of Temora and Wyalong were published in the Government Gazette on the 29th November 1901 and the 28th July 1899, respectively.”
