Full description
Mainly letters to the Under-Secretary of Justice giving explanations, enquiring about fees or seeking advice on various cases dealt with by the coroner. Also included are letters to the Government Architect concerning repairs, to other coroners giving advice, to the Police Department, to solicitors, insurance companies and private persons regarding deceased persons and jury service as well as memoranda of the coroner and estimates of expenditure.
There are also copies of some letters received, very few in number and apparently inserted by the coroner in explanation of one of his own letters. The majority of these, found in 7/1457, are copies of depositions to the coroner. The only loose letter received in 7/1458 (p.20) is from the Under Secretary of Justice concerning an increase of salary for the coroner's clerk.
