This series consists of administrative and functional files created by the Department of Local Government.
The administrative files relate to such matters as personnel management, finance and budgeting, policy and legislative review, freedom of information, government relations and advice, and strategic management. The functional files include those relating to land management, performance management, complaints and allegations, investigations and committees as well as files relating to the establishment and operation of councils within New South Wales.
The files have an annual single number arrangement with file numbers up to 2004 bearing prefixes to distinguish between administrative and functional.
