Full description

This series consists of a leather bound photographic album that was compiled in memory of Sir John Robertson K.C.M.G following his death in 1891.

Sir John Robertson was a politician and land reformer who played a key role in establishing The National Park (later known as Royal National Park) in 1879 and was Chairman of Trustees of The National Park. (1)

Embossed text in gold on the front cover of the album reads 'In Memory of Sir John Robertson K.C.M.G Chairman National Park 1891'. The title page of the album features an ornate inscription to Robertson's son, Richard Windeyer Robertson. The inscription features gold leaf and dedicates the album to Sir John's memory, commemorating his work as Chairman of Trustees. The dedication has been signed by the Trustees and dated 18 May 1891.

Contained within the album, held in cardboard mounts, are a series of 25 black and white photographs showing various landscape scenes within The National Park.
