These files concern Aboriginal children brought under the control of the Aborigines Welfare Board and subsequently admitted into the Kinchela Aboriginal Boys’ Training Home. The files are incomplete and represent only a small number of those resident at the Home, with the contents of the files ranging from a single page to a substantial number.

The files generally include an Aboriginal Child Record Card which provides details concerning date and reason the Board assumed control, dates admitted to Homes, and sometimes details regarding health and educational progress; an Aborigines Record Card which lists details including date and place of birth and names of parents and siblings; and a Medical Card which details medical history and treatment.
