This Half-Yearly examination book contains; the name of the pupil; their age; marks for reading, spelling, hand-writing, composition, mathematics, social studies and formal language; total marks and place in grade; and a whole blank page that is designed to list the examination questions used. In this volume all of the examination questions have been pasted onto the blank pages provided.The front cover also contains directions for teachers to correctly administer Half-Yearly examinations. These include the following stipulations; all classes must have Half-Yearly examinations and these exams must be finished by June and November respectively; the nature of the test, and if possible, the questions, should be recorded; pupil's names should be arranged alphabetically; pupils absent from an examination should be tested as soon as practically possible; the record should be signed by both the examiner and the class teacher. This directive also to stresses the importance of the pupil’s written work above all else. Significantly, the record of results is described to be of great importance to both the teacher and inspector alike.
