Full description
The New South Wales Anti-Discrimination (Amendment) Act 1980 had imposed an obligation on New South Wales public sector agencies (including authorities, departments, State owned corporations, higher education institutions, universities and area health services) the requirement to establish equal employment opportunity programs.
The aim of the programs was to ensure that employment opportunities were equally available to all people regardless of gender, nationality, race, religion, sexual preference, language spoken, and disabilities.
Most of the files in this series consist of correspondence with the various bodies covered by this obligation and contain copies of the programs they submitted, advice and recommendations for refinement of performance indicators. The measurement of strategies adopted to implement and review the Equal Employment Opportunity initiatives of the various agencies was of major importance and much of the correspondence is related to the analysis and evaluation of these indicators in order to identify the level of representation for the four Equal Employment Opportunity groups on the establishment.
